The Western Grassland Reserve
The Victorian Government is reserving 15,000 hectares of land to protect critically endangered grasslands, and to offset the ecological impact of urban growth in Melbourne’s north and west.
The grassland reserves will be managed primarily for nature conservation, for the protection of native vegetation and the habitats of native plant and animal species.
The Western Grassland Reserves will form a new grassland park of international significance, connecting the You Yangs area to the Werribee River across the Volcanic Plains.
To learn more about Victoria's grasslands please watch our grassland video on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISH4tp_fm0I&

Biodiversity Maze Thankyou to everyone who came to our first Biomaze meeting, we are still looking for more volunteers to help. If you are interested and would like to get involved. Please e-mail - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Western Melbourne Catchments Network have funding to build a Maze from two large gazebos, which we would like to set up at festivals and school events. We need volunteers interested in editing photographs to "hide" animals in photographs. We are also seeking more funding - we have several grant applications pending but if your organisation would like to sponsor the Maze, please contact wmcn by email. |
